What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Recaro out and a check over and maybe one final run out.

When you say ā€˜final’ Mick, have I missed something? :worried:

That is lovely.

You haven’t missed a thing.
Decisions made this week I’m reducing my car ownership to just the one, the Recaro isn’t the one that’s staying unfortunately.

Don’t want to swap it for a Mk1 do you Mick??

That’s much easier with no roof on!

Not so much what i did more what i didn’t do . I didnt get ripped off by a tyre and brake place in Bath for a pair of front discs and pads all round, for the eye watering sum of Ā£650 !! the service manager seemed surprised when i didn’t take him up on the generous offer to rob me blind .

Carbon ceramic discs?

Just standard after market discs and pads nothing fancy , he actually had the cheek to say that it would take 5 hours at Ā£75 per hour labour as well . I won’t name the company but anyone who knows Bath, it’s named after an area near the fire station.

Born and raised in Bath. Did the tyre place rhyme with Pathstick?

Yes , yes it does !!!

I havent had any dealings with them. Glad you decided not to take them up on their generous offer

Morning in the garage , new pads all round and checked slider pins all seem good . the uneven wear on the rears more on the inside than the outside always surprises me

It sure is Robbie always have them to hand so I don’t miss anything , thanks for them

I noticed this when I removed my rear discs and pads. Presumably the piston transfers the majority of the force directly and more evenly on that inside pad and the outer one gets clamped less firmly against the disc. Also noticed the outer pad wears tapered, more at the top than the bottom. Probably again due to the bottom being the part that’s got the least clamping pressure…

So this week I went up to BBR GTI and had the their cams fitted and mapping - I couldn’t be any happier with the results. It’s totally changed the feeling of the car from 3K up to 7300/7500 RPM - with all of the suspension work etc being done recently it feels like a real track car now ! It made just over 202 BHP

Had it already had manifold and exhaust?

Sorted out my door speaker. And got some sound insulation into the door while I had the speaker out. Oh, and sprayed some Dinitrol into the bottom of the door for good measure while I had access.

What insulation have you got? Would appreciate a review. I have about 3 future projects that will give me opportunities to improve sound insulation.
