I canât say much on the first half of your message save for the fact that it is vanishingly unlikely that the garage would have road-tested the car and the issues you describe arenât part of the MOT.
Regarding the diff oil, I had to read your post several times to absorb it fully. It is difficult to believe that a garage can be that obtuse. Most folk advise reasonably regular changes of the oil in the diff - perhaps once every two years or even annually if you do a lot of mileage and drive the car hard. It is a very easy job - less awkward than the gearbox oil - but you do need the items you state. I donât think you can do it without raising the back of the car but others might correct me. If you are going to change the diff oil regularly it is worth buying the tools and the stands. You could probably manage without a torque wrench although I use one. What I would say is that Iâd be wary of having my box/diff oils changed by a garage with the attitude you cite. Will they use fresh sealing washers, for example? Will they use the right oil? If I were you, and I wasnât going to do the job myself, Iâd take your car to one of the excellent, reputable independents that other owners have used and have written about in the various threads.
No, I wouldnât expect them to road test it either**, but they would have to move it around the yard and do an emissions tests, so if it was being awkward they might have said. It was probably warm and behaving itself; either way, sorted now.
Iâm not sure what happened with the diff, the garage are usually spot-on and have a very good reputation. Clearly there was some sort of miscommunication somewhere along the line. I had considered doing it myself anyway as itâs not rocket science, and I should find a way to make it work.
** Or use it as their runabout and drive it 50 miles to pick up a load of stuff from another site in their network, as a Honda stealership did to me some years ago. How do I know? Because after I picked the car up and got home, I opened the boot to find it full of Honda-branded boxes that I then had to drive back and return to them. Not even an apology! I was dis-chuffed and considerably less than gruntled.
Changed the four spherical bushes in the rear uprights on my 2016 ND, they were an advisory for the previous owner. An easy morningâs job and all the clunks and knocks have gone. Whilst the wheels were off I cleaned the wheel arches and sprayed Dynax S50 in the various box sections and external surfaces. I then noticed the inner side of the brake discs were awful and the pad wear was uneven so fitted new discs and pads. I think the uneven pad wear was because the pads were sticking in the brackets. I checked that the new pads moved freely before fitting them. I also painted the disc shields.
So far I have found the ND very easy to work on and the on line manuals very helpful. I am delighted with it.
If nothing else itâll keep the palm of your hand warm
Sorry but the âCarry Onâ in me refuses to be drawn on this one!!!
I can just hear Sidâs laugh.
Changed the keyfob batteries. 15 months after I bought the car (second hand), one key fob had emptied its battery, and the other one was getting sluggish. I pushed the boat out, and even bought posh Duracell batteries
You are obviously not from Yorkshire with that sort outrageous spending.
Had Mazda lowering springs put on my RF plus geometry set up at Roddisons of Sheffield, as we say locally dead chuffed
Thanks Paul
Best of luck!
Just waiting for the 4 pin brake light switch
@Squibnocket1 you may well have started with the steering wheel but I bet it doesnt stop thereâŚ! You will not be able to, the car will not let you.
Started?
Iâve not stopped since buying it March 23
Those look amazing.
Did you change the lamp colour?
Yes i did, white LED bulbs and a bit of modification to some of the plastic behind to get it to light up correctly. Also needed to relocate high beam and fog light to the corners instead of on tachos
Fitted a @Roadie LED boot light strip. Completed before midday on a Saturday after a bacon baguette. Thatâs either good going for me or it illustrates the simplicity of the kit.
