Got the lower rear left caliper carrier bolt undone finally. Tried vise grips, smaller socket, bolt extractor, heat and nothing got it budging until I used a club hammer to knock the bracket out the way of the disc, then it started turning. So vise grips back on and the bolt was removed. Took off (read: fell off) the other brake disc dust shield then got the new disc and pads fitted.
Did some sound deadening in the boot and fitted the Meisterr extended damping adjusters through a couple of 8mm holes (with rubber grommets) in the side plastics.
That’s me all set for the front lower arms and final height setting/alignment on Wednesday now.
Any tips for dissuading birds from using my wing mirror as a toilet? I have to park next to a hedge and they love to come out and sit on the wing mirror in the morning to do their business.
Put some halos in the car and started to put carpets in the parcel shelf and test futted the carpets for the floor that came from a mk2 to go into my mk1
I bumped the sill covers with my hand, just in front of the rear wheels and some soil came out. Two minutes later there was a pile of as big as a molehill. That’s with summer driving.
I have fitted the carpet on my mk1 mx5 the centerconsole needs adjusting the carpet and centle console was stripped out of a mk2 on saturday and is nearly all in today
Drove around with the handbrake slightly applied for a short distance, as suggested elsewhere, to clean up the rear brake disks a bit. Also heavy application to clean up fronts done too. . . Worked well
Think I’ll have to invest in some of the MTEC/Freaky Parts coated disks that are supposed to be more corrosion resistant!
4 new tyres this afternoon.
Goodyear Asymmetric 6 205/45 17 88Y
Only driven home, after the recommended 15 min wait for TPMS to catch up, but wow, feels so different already.
This is coming off the 2 original Bridgestones on the front(cracking) and 2 budget Comforser put on by the dealer I bought it off.
It just feels right now.
Will get a full wheel alignment next to get the most of these new ones
Finally got round to fitting Android Auto. I had bought the kit 6 weeks ago but was waiting for decent weather before fitting it. I had to dismantle more trim than I wished but only broke one small tab. Much to my surprise it all works although I had to use a better USB lead. Waze is my preferred navigation app which I find much better than the Mazda one.
