Ceramic coated the recently refurbed wheels in preparation for a 2 week trip, “avoid Motorways”, around England. I couldn’t decide on a caliper colour but probably because I just prefer silver. Black car and silver wheels, I’ve considered every colour under the sun.
Couple of touch ups in the next few days then it’s off… camping Windermere, down and across to St Neots and doing a Porsche Experience, then on to Southampton and Simply Japanese with the club, then on to Hereford, Kidderminster and a canal boat, on to Nottingham and SupercarFest at Mallory Park and finally a hustle back to work on Monday 28th.
yes that can happen Also if left for some time other things can come in to play like the windows down, roof down, alam is on, then when trying to close the roof this will activate the car alarm. one way around it is to close the windows by two clicks on the key remote then 3 times on the controller once the windows have shut …(battery will soon run flat at that rate ) you will find other bugs along the way in winter you can get notice that you have roof malfunctions as well do to the dormant time when not using the controller and I suggest rotating you Key controllers each month they can also cause problems however for me fitting the full kit I had no problems in the last few years …
Just given it a wash after discovering one of my cats was shut in the garage yesterday and slept on the roof! Bought myself an Autoglym drying towel recently and what a difference!! That coupled with the ceramic coating has made the job so much easier!!
Fitted an IL Motorsport Syperlight X Brace. I now have both their lower replacement braces and Gravity Performance upper braces installed and the car feels solid as a rock. The slightly wobbly driver’s window which rattled before is now silent on all but the biggest bumps. £126 very well spent.
A couple of relatively minor jobs tackled this morning, I added a set of front fog lights from a higher spec’d NC along with a set of yellow LED bulbs and then moved to the engine bay and dropped in a tower strut brace. I haven’t driven the car yet so I can’t report if it made any difference but it looks good and that’s almost as important.
Replaced the auxiliary belt tensioner on my NC1 as well as the idler pulley just above it (109,000 miles). Have sometimes been getting an odd metallic rattle while moving off when the engine is warm (at about 1500rpm). No sound other wise so, with the help of my wife, managed to narrow the sound to the general area of the tensioner/pulley. Pulley was a bit rattly when I took it off and the replacement seems to have worked - pretty easy job really and everything came apart no problem. The belt was replaced last year by a local garage that was also installing a new radiator fan that had stopped working plus a thermostat but didn’t mention any issues with the pulleys at the time. No more embarrassing rattles now anyway.
Phone meet Car.
After some time of ownership, I decided its time to peal half the car interior apart as you do and bite the bullet of updating the head unit USB module to one that support phone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto).
It was a good opportunity to update the infotainment system to 74.xxxsomething.
Huge thanks for @BlueAgave for direction to the firmware and instruction, it works flawlessly just taken closer to an hour in my case, having plugged the battery to a charger no issues developed during the process as you can see in the photos.
AIO hack applied to control the touch screen while on the move.
USB thing got replaced, tearing and reassembling the car for it.
And…as most of the cabin was apart, I had fitted a dashcam and its wiring is all neat (Nextbase 222x)
So far so good, had a quick ride around town and very pleased using the car screen with the phone.
I’ve done this recently, it’s amazing how much you have to remove/detach to get to the screen connections. I reckon I can do it in half the time now I know how.
