Fitted a set of Super Automotive Accessories NC1 door pulls, the interior feels a bit roomier and looks (in my opinion) much nicer. I’m half tempted to get some thin leather strapping and replace the webbing but I think I’ll give it a couple of weeks to see how I get on with the fabric pulls first.
One of the first mods I did to my NC and probably one of the best ones too.
Are they a straight plug and play?
Yup,just remove the plastic cowling from around the steering wheel, undo a couple of screws that hold the stalk in, swap it for the new unit and put it all back together again. There’s a few videos of the procedure on YouTube if you’re not 100% certain but it really is just a simple five minute job that makes a big quality of life difference.
Cheers. I see there’s a few Chinese switches on Ebay but not sure if they’re any good.
I’m pretty sure it’s a Chinese unit I’ve got fitted in mine because the colour’s a little bit off and the plastic has a very slightly different texture to the one on the other side but it works fine.
If you’re interrested This is the one I’ve got for less than 20 quid it’s worth a punt.
Nice one. Thanks. ![]()
Thought the track mx5 was still a bit dull , so a bold wheel colour change was needed ….. maybe not for everyone…… will be more pics when on car.
Painted the Brembos on my Merc the same colour a few years back …
Go bright go bold ![]()
I noticed yesterday while demonstrating the operation of the roof at Oulton Park, if you have the windows down and the roof open, you can’t remotely close the roof.
Is this the case when the window module is fitted?
An incident whilst driving yesterday evening prompted me to fit my front/rear dashcam today. I got it for my birthday in June so overdue anyway.
The sun was killing me so i had to put a cover on the top, it helped a lot!
What was your cable route from the rear windbreaker? Did you remove any trim for the cable run?
I was thinking of a similar position for a rear-facing cam ![]()
I fitted a front and rear cam recently and yiu can see some of the rear cam routing here: Hard wired in Viofo front & rear dash cams to my ND
The rear cam cable can be routed out via the small hole in the trim panel above the cubby hole and up to the wind deflector.
Tidy, hidden, routing did mean removing a whole series of trim but it all went on and off pretty easily.
Thanks, I did see your write-up but wondered if @Barnetfair1 had taken a different route ![]()
I went into the corner of the plastic trim on the headrest, the bottom pulled out enough to get the cable through. Then on behind the seatbelt anchor and down past the roof mechanism and joining up with the main loom on top of the sill. I had to remove some of the plastic trim behind the passenger seat and set the roof half up.
I managed to route the wire well clear of any moving parts and the kit came with half a dozen self stick cable clips which helped a lot. If you look closely at the picture you can just see the cable as it passes under the roof motor cogs.
Just looked at Poler’s route and it’s pretty much the same, except that i didn’t go through the centre of the top tether panel. I pulled the bottom of it out which allowed me to pass the cable through a small gap in the corner, close to where the cam is.
Quick job that one but, a worthwhile one
Eeer I have to be honest , she’ll never see rain unless I’m caught out
I bought this because I knew it was available…so I ‘needed’ it ![]()
Just like every other MX-5 owner ![]()
