What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

I ordered a clear perspex wind deflector from goodiem on Ebay.

It arrived today, so I’ll be looking to fit it over the weekend.

I also got a camera mount 3D printed to slide over the top of the wind deflector for the rear dash camera

Have you seen the stickers that say ‘no hairdressing equipment is left in this car overnight’! Not that I would ever put one on my car tho.

I fitted it. However, I’m a ■■■■!

  1. I didn’t read the description clearly where it mentions that some MK3 wind deflectors are different. Mine happened to be the different one.

So i had to perform surgery on the deflector mount.

It still works, i do need to add some rubber washers to the headrest mounts so they are more flush.

The black square with the upside down Moxie writing on the deflector is the mount for the camera. I will get this remade to correct the position of the car name but also include some sort of cable tidy for when I fit the camera.

Neat. If it all went smmothly it wouldn’t be as much fun. I keep telling myself that anyway.

I do want to get some sort of plug to fill in the spaces where the old deflector was hinged.

Wash and detailing day!

Now for a drive with the roof open,

Ofiaich

Dry sunny day for a change, so opened up the garage and give Mcqueen some fresh air :dashing_away:

Sounds like my old Subaru Impreza

Sidenote:

While cabin noise hasn’t really increased, my wife reliably informs me I am now the neighbourhood “d*******”. :grimacing:

We are experiencing yet another weather event with gales and flooding so thought I might as well pull some bits off the MX-5. Removed the air cleaner box so I could access the front of the engine and the forward end of the engine compartment. Gave it a good clean and polish, checked that everything was in its place and put it all back together!

Waxed it! I was having a particularly dull, frustrating day. So I left the stress behind me, and mooched out to spend a happy hour or two waxing the MX-5 in my garage :slightly_smiling_face:

Bought a cheap Hawksmoor pressure washer £58 from Toolstation. Well worth the money. Cleaned the wheels, the whole underside in all the nooks and crannies and a quick lick over the paint work
Discovered the first stone chip on the front bumper so I guess it’s not a brand new car any more
Fitted a subtle BOFI Racing thingydemingler on the back and customised the Mazda mounts to get it to hide as much of the back box as possible.

Pondered the question of why is it when your lying under the car with drills or pressure washer humming away and obviously busy, That’s when 5 people in 4 hours decide they want to talk to you and explain things that you already know or don’t care about.

an unboxing exercise… new air intake for the ND, which is a direct replacement for the washer bottle

So what will you use to wash the windscreen?

Something like this probably

Today I’ve fitted my new soft indoor cover to Maisie from classic additions Ltd. It’s a fantastic cover and fits like a glove. Piece of cake to fit on your own too. Highly recommended if you’re in the market for a cover

Drove it out of the garage to let a joiner manhandle a new gate out of my garage (learned the hard way about squeezing heavy objects past my car!). Parked it round the front. And finished off applying wax to a couple of areas I couldn’t get at easily inside the garage. Very therapeutic!
