Replaced rear springs and shocks. Still clonks and wobbles. Must be the front. Darn it …
Just turn the car around the other way then!
Performance Link have my ND1 back on the road.
A couple of sound clips they took.
Can’t wait to get this back!! Dyno numbers + sound suggest some serious fun to be had when it’s back on track
To be fair you wouldn’t have noticed the mess before………….

Up on the ramps at Vince’s Motorworks for new front brakes, coilovers adjustment/alignment and MOT, which we passed with flying colours
MOT passed - only advisory, front pads are getting a bit low.
Only covered 1600 miles since last year.
Think another trip north might be in order…
how far north is north? i see a satire flag… ![]()
Final NC suspension replacement job completed - lower wishbone and all associated fasteners. I’d already replaced the upper wishbone and most of the rear arms over winter without any great issues but gave up on the lower wishbones and took it to a local garage who know MX-5s. In the end, they only had an issue with the driver’s side rear bolt but got it out with the help of some heat and a big hammer - no need to cut them out as I have seen with many others. I knew the front bolts were ok as I had already tried these and they were fine but the rears had me surrendering. Alignment book for next week.
Back in 2024 when I did the trip got as far as Lossiemouth. Hoping next time I can extend the journey to Wick to lay flowers on parent’s grave. I lived in Caithness from 1956 to 1977…
Looks really tidy, good job.
More 3D printing;
I’m narrowing in on the centre caps I’ve been working on over the last few weeks.
The clips were a cause for concern, making them stronger so they dont snap when pushing them in. Then I started on making the holes for the badges that fit on the outside, a little bit of trial and error and I’ve got a fit that is almost OEM.
The clips themselves took.some time to get right, either they were loose or too tight.
Why did I do this?
The models that are available I felt wasn’t good enough and this gave me a good opportunity to learn more about 3D modelling using Fusion/Tinkercad.
The Dark Red and Black caps are printed in PETG, the white one is PLA, that looks really nice but no good for wheels as it will melt due to the heat (i assume it will) when braking.
Now all I have to do is finish the badges ![]()
Where did you source your wing vents from?
“I can’t say. Last time I mentioned them on the forums, three guys in tweed jackets tried to stage an intervention. Let’s just call them ‘unidentified flying aero’.” Just joking … or am I? They where already fitted to the car when i got it, if you search the forum for wing vents a number of posts will come up suggesting where they came from. sorry i can’t help further. but be wise and search quietly or the ‘Originality Police’ will have my car impounded by morning.
@DirtyHabit Above the Tyne
Wing vents ….I sourced mine from a guy in Canada , 3d printed
Edit
Cockroach prototypes I think , Facebook
Same type I think
I love those! Are they actually tips that you can mount to the existing ND exhaust tips?
