Not bad for a 24 year old NB still on original brake discs.

Booked Moxie in for an MOT next friday. Picked National Tyres as there is a mechanic there who drives an NB. Fingers crossed for a pass, I’m doubtful even though the past few MOT’s have passed before i purchased him.
That is amazing.
I did a little paint work to my other car recently and I am about to commence some remedial work to try and reduce the all too obvious “orange peel” and try and blend it a bit better with the adjacent panel.
I’ve bought Meguire’s Ultimate Compound and hope to make it look a bit better.
If I can get it anywhere like you’ve done I’ll be delighted!
Thx. Rattle cans are so much better than they used to be. It does still need flattening and.polishing, as there is a bit of orange peel there. Even so, reasonably happy with that.
A few jobs done, covering maintenance and modification ![]()
Roof clean down. Need the next spell of dry weather for a bit of renovator on it next, to address a few fading areas. But overall not bad going for 10.5yrs old…
Mazdaspeed fuel cap:
CleaR Motorsport clutch stopper fitted and set to position 2:
Fitted a stubby aerial and cleaned all around the roll bars and behind the seats - can’t believe how much road dirt is in there!
the faded roof… i did this last year. now looks 10x worse. i didnthave a good time with the ‘roof dye’ stuff. i made a hash getting an even coat (looked fine when it was wet). so now its dried with odd skreaks, and 12 months on still looks ‘stained’ lol.
Got a new exhaust bung to make the exhaust quieter for day-to-day. (and for a 4,500 mile trip to Croatia next week!).
Under full throttle i think its only a few decibels different. not much in it. but might be enough for track limits.
Importantly, for gentle throttle for motoways and around town, its done a great job at being more sublte.
takes all of 15 seconds to take it in and out. very easy ![]()
(shorter narrower one comes with the exhaust. new longer baffled insert next to it)
Dropped the rear crash bar I ordered off eBay, at the powder coaters. My old one has a massive dent and the bumper is coming off for a respray anyways.
Found a water bottle to match the bodywork:
Now arguably it’s a touch closer to 46V than my 41V, but it’ll do ![]()
And a bit of scuff plate beautification…
Washed and polished it yesterday.
Cleaned the bird sh*t off it today ![]()
Completed my first engine oil change. Got the front of the car up on the ramps from Temu that arrived yesterday and they held up well.
I had to make a dash to Halfords to get oil filter pliers as the tool I have just wasn’t grabbing the filter
. The oil was black as coal.
The car now has about 4.5l of Shell Helix Ultra 5w30. I’ll give it a test tomorrow.
Next job I suppose is the diff/gear, but that can wait until after the MOT on Friday.
Can’t recall who [might have been RichardFX] but they advised that birds see a shiney surface and think it’s water which in their brains means it’s ok to sh*t …certainly true from my experience ![]()
Mainly living above ground, in the air, in trees, on roofs, buildings, etc, for a bird anywhere is OK…
especially if there is a cat below
Successive generations of my local magpie family have proved that after a bit of practice they can learn excellent aim on the right-hand neighbour’s soporifically fat tabby and the rear neighbour’s murderous pinto.
After scoring a hit they laugh, it can’t be anything else but a laugh.
I had the excellent team at Magna Mazda Christchurch change my gearbox & differential oil. It has only been 15k miles (two years) since the last oil replacement, which Mazda asked if I was sure to replace so early, however I feel it benefits the car and through hard daily use I prefer a silky change and less differential whine. Car is transformed once again in time for summer.

Maisie no longer looks like she’s ready for the Paris - Dakar. Eibach 35mm springs fitted. Really pleased with the ride, the handling and the look ! Read some conflicting reports but couldn’t be happier.
That is my logic…
Early oil changes DEFINITELY benefit the car!
I’ve just dropped Moxie off for his MOT, while I was sitting in costa over the road from them ,they took him for a drive! ![]()
![]()
I didn’t expect them to take it for a spin.
Passed the MOT. Advisories for the anti-roll bar joint and suspension arm pin or bush.
And the guy who tested it… He owns an MX-5, that was my reasoning for taking him to National ![]()
