What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Picked up my eBay special rear crash bar from the powder coater today. The current one has a massive dent in it and will be heading for the bin when the car goes into the body shop for some minor arch bubbling. Looks great - just a shame nobody will see it!

Brake testing with an accelerometer, not on the rolling road (to protect LSD).
My local place does that.

Ah, fair enough. Thanks

washed, coated, fluids done, tyres checkes, 360 camera loaded, driving gloves in and much more!!

All set - lets go drive a 4,500 round trip to Rimac Factory in Croatia! via the Alps

Dropped the front tyre pressure to 28psi, rears 30, test drive. More bite mid corner at the front and gripping nicely on exit. Seems to have corrected a mild under steer. Happy times. Tail seems willing if pushed.

I didn’t realise that was a thing, shouldn’t all mot places do that?

Most do.
Mention the LSD.
It is an approved device and quite clever. My local centre hooks it onto the underside of the driver’s seat.

Fitted LED sidelights today. Went for the brightest ones I could find. Will have to wait to see how they are in the dark. Photo for comparison.

Apart from washing and polishing I have done nowt to the car for a while. Then I ‘found’ the spare Mazda/MX-5 stickers I got from Aliexpress when I repaired the wind blocker a few months back so I decided I would stick one on my water bottle as a token gesture toward doing something to the car. Only did my bottle 'cos the wife said it looked tacky and did not want one!

I’m intrigued, what could it do to cause the LSD issues. My MOT operator used the rolling road..

Brake only one wheel for too long.

Just thought I’d share my very low tech solution, sticky back velcro strips, actually looks ok and covers the holes. But, Mark, if you want to sell a couple of your lovely 3D printed items please PM me?

I also replaced my clear perspex with a very light grey tint to match the windows and that does look smart I hope?

Cheers

Marc

Hey Marc, I don’t mind printing a couple off, and sending them out. just cover the postage. I was actually looking and trying to improve the plug a little. PM on it’s way.

Treated my NC 3.0 to new rims and wellies. SOOO sticky that they throw road grit into the wheel arches.

In my Caterham days our Superlight R ran on fat Avon ACB10 cross ply tyres that came directly from Formula Ford racing and did the same ‘trick’. A following Caterham driver ended up with a stone firmly embedded in his forehead. Those were the days.
