Looks OE, and shiny.
Have to start calling you Maggie…
Jacked up my NC and replaced the blowing exhaust gasket that was supplied with the BBR exhaust with an OEM crush gasket from MX5 parts. Much better now and no leaks detected.
Was going to Hoover the car but retreated back inside as the sun is cracking the flags here.
Oh noooo, too many Thatcher overtones!!! I’d settle for Meg- had a marvellous auntie by that name
Haha, (as in magpie)
I’m happy to call you whatever you want
Lol, aye, I got that
One for sorrow
Two for joy
Three for a girl
Four for a boy
Five for silver
Six for gold and
Seven for a secret never to be told!
Fitted a Goodwin underbody air scoop to cool the transmission. Stainless steel, 10 minutes. Sweet.
Washed her and fitted my dashcam in preparation for my weekend .
Leaving tomorrow 7am.
Heading up Glen Coe, then to Fort Augustus, Drumnadrochit then onto Culloden where we’re spending the night…
Nice run out this morning to Bideford (Southwestern Roadsters) to have a new hood fitted, excellent workmanship, and drive home again, just 286 miles.
Gosh, where did you drive from??
Melksham, Wilts.
Wow, that’s quite a trip…
Had to trim my Carbonmiata Quilted Mat slightly because the aluminium pedal cover I fitted to the accelerator was getting caught on it when fully depressed. I’ve had the mats and pedal covers for a while now and hadn’t had a problem until the day of the world record attempt at Elvington. During the victory lap at the end I literally put the ‘pedal to the metal’, and it got stuck! Had to prise it free with my toes!
Hiya! Bet that was interesting

Engine, Diff & Transmission oil changes last night.
Put the car on jack stands for the first time. Im used to working on my touareg which is higher off the ground stock vs the nc on stands After learning how to jack it up I drained the oil. When inspecting it I thought I seen very very small dots of metal(no large chucks) but they weren’t overly shiney so Im not sure. I ordered new sets of crush washers but they didnt arrive so Im using the old ones for now.
Added about 4 litres of 5w30, started and checked for leaks. Dipstick read low so added another 1/2 litre for good measure.
Oh and I did not have a oil filter tool. After trying to turn it with one hand in the wheel well side and one from underneath I finally loosened it with fat grippy work gloves. I reinstalled hand tight as I could.
Tranny and diff were pretty simple. Always loosening the fill plug first. Refilled with 75w90 about 2.5 litres for the tranny unitil I seen it ozing out. And 700-800 ml for the diff.
GL4 - Trans
GL5 - Diff
Also changed gear lever bushing to the upgraded brass one. My turret was BONE DRY… (06 sport 6 speed btw) so without measuring cups I just poured in until it reached the bushing cup, didnt take much.
Shifting feels tighter and less play.
MOT and oil/filter change, maybe get more miles on it this year!
Expensive MOT this year for the 2002 Sport…so far.
Funny how these did not get a “keep an eye out” mention last year.
- It’s done only around 1200 miles since*
Cracked rear springs, 2 duff rear shocks, one scored disc & dodgy caliper and no…you’d not have known driving it really. Track road end covers split… fair play they can go any day.
so, thanks to Andrew @ Autolink as ever getting the bits(all new) sent pronto for decent money.
It’s an old car…stuff happens…pretty much zero deprecation anyhow.
Meantime, a certain well known footballer decided to inspect the boot a close quarters…but he is paying cash for the repair. I’m getting the well known Mk2.5 boot-light rust fixed as well…since the boot is coming off anyhow. Be rude not to.
Back to FozSports in Clackmannan then. Would not let anyone else near the car now.
That’ll be circa £495.00 out of someone else’s wallet.
Plus, they will likely give her a decent stage 2 mop all over…they usually do. Nice people.
Didn’t know you had any of those in Scotland.
I said well known.
I omitted to say what for.
