What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Well you won’t forget him…

Never met.
My wife was solo, but she did really well and he & his missus were brill with her so there was no big drama.

Thanks Barrie & Geoff. Just need to sort a slightly louder exhaust, and I’ll be done mod wise for this year. Had a friend recommend Powerflow custom exhausts, implemented by Top Gear Performance in Doncaster. Might go over when time allows for a chat. The Cobalt option isn’t a possibility until 2022 according to Moss Europe, which seems to be a popular choice, so an alternative is required. Any other recommendations appreciated :+1:t2:

Hi Nick,I’ve used these guys a couple of times. Once on a LWB V6 petrol Pajero and again on my supercharged mk1. Both times, brilliant service, got exactly what I wanted, whisper quiet on the Pajero (very refined) and ‘sporty’ on the mk1. Very knowledgeable and good to deal with :+1:

Thanks Barrie, appreciate the recommendation!

I miss my 25 AE I’ve had 3 NDs since owning it but still part of me wishes I’d kept it. I still have the coat and the model etc. that came with mine.

Have you got a parts list and how would you rate it as a DIY job?

Had some water marks, machine polished :+1:
All done now

On the rampage today, literally. I’ve got a squeak, a creak, whatever it is it needs to be found. Thought it was an exhaust heat shield, nope it’s from the front, undertray off I reckon. Not ruling out auxiliary belt tensioners although this is just as you ease off the throttle to idle I get the creak/squeak no other time. Lunch first, priorities :grin:

The verdict is, haven’t a clue but money is on belt tensioner/pulley.

Well I’m going to change it all, I can’t really 100% say it’s that. I’ll change it all new belt etc I suppose it needs it anyway.:+1:

Easy enough mick :+1:t3::+1:t3::+1:t3:
Around £100 for bits :moneybag::moneybag::moneybag:
Need 3 hands to refit belt :laughing::laughing:

Ordered, £96 delivered from Autolink.

Needs the belt changing so hopefully the tensioner and idler pulley (s) are the reason for the squeak/noise.

Nothing much other than applying another coat of AutoGlym SRP - Got it done a few hours before the inevitable July rain arrives which it duly has now…! :thinking:
