The other advantage of seat right back is easier exit in tight parking spots…
Looking good Barrie. Could be cut slightly bigger and stuck to the inside lip of the hoop?
Hiya Paul! Yes I think that might be the way actually, properly trapped in place then
Back to the drawing board!

Hmm, I used this type of perforated sheet when I made the pipe silencers for my domestic ventilation.
The idea on a silencer like an exhaust muffler is that some of the sound is absorbed in the cavity, and wadding if fitted, and some bounces back out again and cancels what was going in, so a cavity behind can be usefully tuned in an exhaust system or a flat panel in a studio.
But it’s an interesting idea using just the single sheet in the car!
The 1950s BBC design using this idea for studios was called an Aberdeen Absorber - possibly because it was so cheap to make. The walls were covered by a series of shallow boxes fronted with perforated hardboard, tuned with different sized holes and hole spacing for removing different frequencies and amount of absorbtion. I have some of their original Engineering Monographs giving all the science.
I’ve got a sheet of that saved in my basket already Richard!

If you need some black rubber edging strip then these people on eBay are the ones I’ve used for my windblocker side guides. I tried various suppliers and these are the cleanest and best finished rubber.
They also do all the clear edgings and other stuff for shower screens and the like.
Thanks Paul
Drew Scottish fivers NA…(hopefully a good likeness - I am sure he will comment!!
And with the hood down obviously!!!
So, with car being under wraps in the garage,
I wanted a convenient external connection for the maintenance charger. Wasn’t too bothered about a stealth connection socket as such , so bought this
OptiMate Cable O-20, Weatherproof SAE Socket, Front Panel Mount OptiMate Cable O-20, Weatherproof SAE Socket, Front Panel Mount : Amazon.co.uk
I installed it here,
Requires a 25mm hole to mount it so wheel off, front lower arch liner pushed to one side for access and popped out the fog light trim after disconnecting both fog and DRL wires.
Drilled the hole, fitted and connected the panel socket and put it all back together again!
Now, all I need do is lift the front corner of the cover to get to the socket, plug in and switch on the charger and job done!

Following on from the installation of the Optimate socket into the fog light surround, I ordered this too from Optimate,
Had cause to help out my youngest sons partner, stuck at home with a puncture. When I got there, somebody had let her rear tyre down and looked like they were in the process of doing it to the front too! I deduced this as I found both tyres with valve caps missing and they were just laying on the floor? They live in a converted Mill, only have one allocated space so her car lives in the visitor parking area. The side affected was the passenger side, car parked nose in so they’d never have seen anyone tampering
Anyway, my IMS kit from the 5 came in handy to reinflate the tyre AND check all the other 3 tyres
Point is, open my car, switch to accessories position on ignition, take out mini USB socket from 12v socket, insert plug from compressor etc. With this adapter plugged into the external SAE socket I fitted, no need to enter car or switch ignition on or remove/replace anything as the installed socket is directly connected to the battery? Well, I think it’s a good idea anyway!
Various configurations of leads available, could even jump start a car from this external socket ‘maybe’?

Took the Sport into coachworks to have boot slap sorted.
FozSports again. All paid for by “famous person” who did it, so no worries.
Full job…boot off etc. Foz do not mess.
Anyhow, the loan car took a while to get home…on 3 bloody cylinders.
Uphills were a bit of an issue. Finally made it. Just.
It transpires…Kia Picantos leave the factory with 3 pots and about 62bhp.
Just imagine what another “pot” would give you!
I would assume there is a fuse in the lead from the socket to the battery. If there is then trying to jump start that way would blow the fuse immediately.
I had to deliver my daughters Picanto from Derbyshire to Wiltshire when I acquired it for her. One particular hill I nearly had to slam it in 1st to complete the accent
Apart from hills they are really nippy cars.downhill.
Hi Paul, yes, in line fuse. I did say ‘maybe’ electrics are a bit of a dark art for me. Oh well, I’ll stick with the Mazda IMS kit or maybe a USB charger or similar

Looked at it longingly sat in the garage on her life support system , weathers been pants down here in the south east for the last couple of weeks. Oh woe is me.
What am I going to do today…
Take it for MOT😬
Why am I up so early?
Fortnight of sunshine(ish) forecast from today though, so woe no more!
