What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Brimmed the tank with Super after adding a fuel additive for winter storage then sorn’d it once I got home. 2048 miles this year.

Yes. Good to hear it, I had all my bits done by W.I.M too, lowered and spaced by Joe !
My MX5 looked totally different once done, Money well spent…
The MX5 does sit too high on Factory spec…
Once lowered 30mm. ( that’s quite enough Drop ) It Then looks ‘transformed, and looks as it should Have looked !
25mm spacers finished the job and bring the wheels out quite flush to the body … Of course you are now on adjustable suspension So even better, it’s there to be enjoyed Best regards from Ray in Essex …

I note that Mercedes SL (2022) Tin roof design has been replaced by a cloth roofs operation ? A step forward or a step backwards ? Well I owned a SL tin top. And it cost me a fortune in repairs.
( £ thousands not £ hundreds ) One thing after another needed replacing. Window mechanisms, roof mechanisms and. So much water leaking into the boot that I had to feed the gold Fish every time it rained. All you do when you buy a Mercedes is buy the BADGE which was once a good badge on a good car prior to the 1990s. … . Ray from Essex .

It’s Quite hard to get a full shine on the MX5 NC Sunset Silver Paint colour. Unlike some of the richer colours …But I think I have achieved it with “ extra protection polish “ by Auto Glym …
Three / four applications (one after the other) then a ‘top up’ every month
( about an hour or two of enjoyable graft ) Cleaning the car then becomes a doddle… even Insects Have a problem landing on it. So shiny I recently saw a Bumble Bee try to land on it. It Done three somersaults and fell off the end of the bonnet With a puzzled look on its face …

Does the Autoglymn extra gloss protection really need to be applied that often?

Hi Andrew… in answer to your question, No not at all, you don’t have to follow my lead … I just enjoy polishing my little MX5… But my philosophy. is The more depth of Protector polish the better, My evidence is In the result, You would know when you have reached ‘ best result ‘ by how it looks and how it becomes so easy to clean, My MX5 has probably got 7 coats Of Extra gloss protection On it over the past year And I cannot wait to Apply some more. It’s so easy to apply and wipe off… But in answer to your question. No ! A good waxing Then thoroughly polish it till every smear has gone, Then Apply plenty of the first coat of The extra Protector polish then a second coat as soon as possible A third coat of the ‘ extra protector (at a later date) will finish the job. Then ‘one more Coat when you get the feeling that it might need it, I have never waited too long because I enjoy polishing the car as a pastime, lastly don’t scrimp On the ‘ extra gloss protector “ The more the better… It’s a protector by name !

Good logical idea Andrew How lovely if your little MX5 is garaged through winter… Don’t feel obliged to answer all My emails. I’m a bit of a chatterbox So cannot resist a chat… best regards from Ray in Essex

That looks so nice, Lovely colour too,

Not to be that guy and rain on your parade but Autoglymn extra gloss protection isn’t a polish, its a sealant/liquid wax.

The super resin polish does a stand up job if you need it, and I’ll be getting some of the extra gloss protection (mostly due to your enthusiasm for it) once my UHD ceramic stops being effective.

I hope you have Autoglym shares :joy:

No, I wish I did have shares in ‘Auto Glym… If I did a I would probably be driving an Aston Martin… And not be living in a Council property (Albeit in one of England’s loveliest towns ).
I am aware that it isn’t a polish That’s why I mentioned “ first putting a coating of polish on The car first before the Extra gloss protection…
I hope I hadn’t give the impression that the sealant was a polish. I was only using the word ‘ polish ‘ loosely in the general context of what was being discussed … . Although it does have a wax component somewhere within it…
I thought that the very name of the ‘extra gloss protection‘ pointed to the product being a SEALANT … Anyway We have hopefully cleared that up now. … Thanks for your reply … Best Regards from Me to you … Ray in Essex … and thanks for your. “

Had a Jetex mid section and dual outlet exhaust fitted today by Gary at Eden Mazda. High quality Swedish item with has the name of the builder etched into it. Very impressed with the sound quality. image

Fitted a jetex rear silencer also recently to a mk3, arrived in sturdy packaging & quality seems good with tidy welds, fitted with no issues. Decent enough sound without being to loud.

Finally, after a 6 week wait since placing the order and paying. My Tein Flex Z coilovers have been delivered so I’ll be getting ready to install them at the weekend.
Strangely one of my shocks popped yesterday on my daily commute to work too, so the timing for the delivery was almost perfect.

Fitted a garmin power cable to the obd2 port on the ND, combined with an obd splitter cable I now have my two dashcam on record permanently and the cable detects if the battery voltage drops and will turn off, saving the battery.
Using the splitter leaves my cargenie enabled so I still get fault analysis and tracking when the wife is using it! :joy::joy::joy:
