What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

And the GT rear muffler was the right choice. I was worried it wouldn’t change much but my word it sounds fantastic (although its the full system not just the rear can)

Collected my 2.5 yesterday after a noisy diff’ was swopped out and a couple of other issues spotted and resolved, the drive home was quiet and now I can hear the radio.

Removed the ISE. More space to refit a strut brace.

Thursday - gave soft-top a liberal coating of sealant, then a second coat to be extra liberal
Friday/Saturday watched the rain pour down - about an inch fell in 24 hrs
Sunday took it for a drive - interior lovely and dry

Have you blanked off the bulkhead fitting?
As I understand it, if not, the membrane in the fitting will still transmit general engine noise into the cabin.
Also, you appear to have some rust getting hold in the engine compartment.

If the engine bay looks that bad, what does the underside look like ?!!! :exploding_head:

Looks like a blanking plate on the bulkhead. :+1:

Finished the first 25% of a DIY wheel refurb escapade and started the job of sorting out some dodgy flaking paint on the hardtop.

Limited Edition wheels

ISE removal - zip tied the solenoid for now but ordered a couple angle braces to mount it like I saw in a YouTube video… which I can’t find again!

Replaced original with stubby radio antenna

I didn’t get around to doing the one important thing on my list: re-fastening the bolt ratting around inside my upper interior windscreen trim. I understand it has likely fallen out of plate the hardtop latches into.

Made my own from a flat 90 degree angle bracket and bent it to fit and sprayed black.

Yep my bolt unscrewed too.

The other regulator went pop on my ND…

Have you blanked off the bulkhead fitting? Yes
“Also, you appear to have some rust getting hold in the engine compartment.” Yes.

You should see the underside, but…I bought “Tizzy” a couple of months ago, with the idea that I’ll keep the rust in check, replace what I need to and then smile on my commute and have some fun on a few track days (COVID permitting)

It looks pretty scabby, thanks for asking. But putting it straight should keep me off the streets.

Testament to how well they were made the British Racing Green on the inner aspects is near on perfect condition which is good going considering it’s been 31 years!

I had a rattling noise on my NC at the top of the windscreen for weeks and kept putting off looking for it as I thought it would be a huge job. When I finally got round to it, I started by lowering the passenger side sun visor and a bolt fell out, one of the two holding the soft-top latch plate! It had unscrewed and was bouncing around in the sun-visor, which never gets used. Wish I’d looked sooner.

Pretty similar to what I found on my NA, loose bolts in the passenger sunvisor, tightened up and no more rattle.

Had the 180 package recently, I made 188.8 due to filter and zaust, also went catted manifold so no issues on the MOT just gone. Enjoy
