Think your mind is playing tricks on you.

Was that ‘Deep Purple in Rock’ or Deep Purple Made in Japan’.

All great albums and don’t forget Fireball.

Hands up if you have played air guitar over the intro of Smoke on the Water.

Yep, seen them live as well but with Coverdale

I saw them live but unfortunately Richie Blackmore had just left and an American guitarist called Tommy Bolin was his replacement, he was very good but the crowd wanted Blackmore.

Yessongs.
Music aside, that was an album experience never bettered.
Triple vinyl.
Covers open up to 4 foot long.
Posters.
Postcards.
And Roger Dean graphics plastered all over it.

You don’t get that from an MP3 download!

You must have a different edition to me (K60045 1973). Mine is a triple LP set but the cover is bound like a book (album!) with 4 “pages”, three containing the records and the fourth with a photo booklet.

Part of the lure of the vinyl album was looking at the art work and reading the sleeve notes while listening to the music. Occasionally you would get an additional 12x12 sheet of notes inside the sleeve too.

Great album. I remember when I was about 17 going around a mates house who was into FREE, I got hooked on Easy On My Soul and it became one of my all time favourites.
