The Normandy beaches, particularly Gold at Arromanche and Omaha Colville Sur Mer. Did the Overlord Museum and now back to the B&B…
Went for a short drive with my best friend today. It was his first time in the MX5, but I think he enjoyed it.
We stopped for a nice brunch, and enjoy the view.
What a great day to spend with my best friend.
Short afternoon run to local haunt St Abbs (Berwickshire) to have tea and cake at Ebbcarrs cafe beside the harbour.
Eternal Blue - and yup it’s mica. Seems to look perfect in photos even when it’s filthy in real life
Cracking route. Those wheels look great
@rythmic My NC 3.5 SB is a similar finish but in white, it can also be quite grubby close up but sparkle from more than a couple of steps back. I have to wear sunglasses when I wash it on a bright day.
Recently returned home from a ~1200 mile round trip to N. Scotland to visit family. I decided to take the RF rather than my Volvo as I was travelling solo but wondered if such a distance would be a good idea, having read some reports on the comfort of the standard seats.
Actually found them to be quite comfortable even on the longest 6 hour leg to Glasgow. Weather was pretty atrocious as I drove up to Braemar over Glenshee. Did wonder at times if I was actually in a speedboat!!! It was real fun driving the little red rocket (seemed everyone called it that so that’s its name now!) on the winding Scottish roads.
MPG for the trip worked out at 48.6.
Overall an enjoyable trip and will definitely be giving it a few more…
(Pics not in order)
Number plate starting with LRR on the cards?
Hah, maybe. Or something ending in RKT?
I know someone who is a genius with working metal and 3D printing (experimenting with chrome finish to 3D models) so may see if he can come up with some small retro rocket badge…
Great cars , i spy mx5gaz there
Is that Igoumanitsa?
I didn’t realise these have survived ! My parents did this sixty-five years ago on many Sundays.
I was about ten so not yet wishing to be elsewhere….yet.
This treasure hunt is an annual event with the BVAC (Borders Vintage Automobile Club) but it’s the first time we have taken part. I guess it’s difficult to run these in many places nowadays due to traffic volumes. Luckily we have lots of small empty lanes around here so having about 15 cars dawdling along looking for answers to the clues (and some getting lost on the way) isn’t a problem. It was a fun afternoon anyway. Definitely a two person effort - a couple of guys were trying to do the run solo but they found it impossible to follow the route, look for the answers and write them down whilst also trying to count the number of post boxes and horse warning signs on the way - after a few miles, they gave up on the clues and just enjoyed the route.
Yer, deffo need a co-pilot.
We did it in a Sunbeam Talbot then sadly a Triumph Mayflower. I used to throw up in the latter: an awful car.
