Norwich Air Museum. This was early on - 30+ MX5 shortly after.
Had a bit of a pootle out into the Peak District. Met some sheep in the Goyt Valley, then mooched on to Buxton for fish and chips. A lovely way to spend a couple of hours on a sunny day!
Thanks to suggestions and support from club members elsewhere on the forum I had a great start to hols when I got to Sainsbury’s in Folkestone……
, mini impromptu MX5 owners club meeting in the petrol station !
went to Hebden Bridge from Bradford to see John Martyn play live in concert about 1982??? Had to leave early to get the train back🤪
Happy memories- great photo- lovely place
Suffolk Aviation Museum, Ipswich. Car event organised by Suffolk Modified. Turning up in a Japanese car got you onto the display area - well I have changed the seats so technically it’s modified! Around 70 cars on display with a fair number of MX5’s, including the best NA I have seen for a long time.
Drove along the epic B4391 between Bala and Ffestiniog. A wonderful road, and some quality time out with “the lad”
Up to Forrestburn hillclimb track, almost exactly halfway between glasgow and edinburgh. Lovely wee track, only a minute long but it’s basically never straight, all ups and downs and wiggles and curves. Because it’s a hillclimb track you can’t do laps like a normal trackday, you do the track then loop back to the start and go again, but I think we each got 25 laps in. Which doesn’t sound a lot but there’s more action per sub-minute lap than there is in 2 or 3 laps of knockhill. Really nice location too, it’s just off the M8 but you feel a hundred miles away.
Found the 2.5 swapped NC a slight handful, tbf I’ve never had a car that you can’t just stomp the accelerator before! I need to learn how to actually manage the throttle a bit now with the extra power ![]()
We went to the Peak District last week and stayed in Eyam for four days, a beautiful place! We saw a couple of MK3s during our stay, particularly on Thursday when we went to Pooles Cavern in Buxton, might that have been you?

Outside the Miner’s Arms pub in Eyam.
I have loads more pics but i won’t bore you with those.
Went for a gentle drive in Anglesey. (A big thank you to Martin and Hannah for the wonderful photo!). Great to see five MX5s on the track!
Hi, no that was Pireas waiting for the boat to get to Limassol, Cyprus. But I have been to Igoumenitsa the day before as I have been on the ferry from Brindisi to Igoumenitsa ![]()
Drove to Lefkas in 2018 went for 6 months, caught the ferry from Ancona to Igoumenitsa. Piraeus looks very similar
Maria’s Restaurant in Vavatsinia is excellent, the drive up into the mountains is great. I only wish I had my MX-5 rather than a tiny hire car!
oh mate nothing can prepare you for driving in Athens

Been there too…what an educational experience that was
flew to Athens, picked a car up stayed at the Electra Palace then dove to Lefkas via Loutraki, to the Corinth canal over to Patras on to Lefkas great trip
Try Rio mate , now that’s as mad as it gets
Or Seoul in rush hour.
We were in a Lincoln taxi on the lower deck of a double deck three lane highway in bumper to bumper traffic at about 40mph, and quite regularly there is a pillar supporting the upper deck smack bang in the middle of our lane. Somehow the taxi managed to merge into a jam-packed other lane and back to the middle again without any problem all the way from the airport to our hotel.
I later asked our minder why all the local cars were in such good nick, considering how maniacally fast and close they drove. He was driving his own car on the same trip with the rest of our group, and the taxi had beaten him to the hotel by almost half an hour.
“Ah well, you see in Korea we use extra tough, extra thin paint on our cars, it gives us all the extra room we need.”
Did a few celebratory miles after the dead car was fixed. Went down a couple of dead ends but finally it’s back. It started as if nothing had ever happened. I must have imagined being stranded in Lidl car park it implied…
Did another 30 miles today just tooling about enjoying the Mx experience again. I’ve still got all the behind seats furniture in the house so the car, especially with roof up can be outrageously noisy.
The car was low on fuel as I’d siphoned most of it out but the fuel gauge dropped too quickly for my liking: suspecting a fuel leak I filled up three gallons and kept an eagle eye on the gauge. All good, some fuel smells from changing the pump assembly but looks just residual vapour.
