Living on a peninsular is quite restrictive. The main arteries tend to be overcrowded and the small capillaries are often single track with passing places if you’re lucky. The great thing about the Mx5 is it’s quite narrow. I often share a squeezed lane with some huge Land Cruiser with a worrying millimetres of clearance. Did St just to St Ives without damage…
Out with Northamptonshire Area MX-5 Area Group- Breakfast Run and Lunch too!!
Great Day - Great Group.
Thanks Dave Hibbert and Diane - Great Organiser!!
At the Weekend -
On the coast - at Aldeburgh. Suffolk with my mate.
Never been there but love roads that run alongside a beach.
Can’t live without my ‘daily fix’ at the moment. So two eight mile round trips to Tesco today despite shocking weather.
Driving so low to the ground after dark is a bit of a problem.
SUV’s - check / LCD headlights -check….
I’m fortunate that my ND has a dipping mirror. - tailgating SUV’s and other high vehicles, on dual carriageways especially almost blinded me until I discovered it!!
It’s good to use our cars regularly this time of year, if not sorned; keeps the battery charge up.
- see Help re battery charging under Electrics and Ice in Tech section.
- Happy 5-ing!
Ha ha. I’ve got that too but when I use mine to stop the dazzle but it gives me a rather nice view of the inside of the rear of the car! Work needed I think. I’ve more of a problem with oncoming traffic…
Just as an aside I read a short, clickbait, sort of mini article about how older drivers are avoiding driving after dark because of the dazzling affects of LCD headlights. I’m 75 and must admit, despite good eyesight still, I do have a problem with LCD lights. I don’t like halogen in my face but they don’t seem to blind in the same way.
What are LCD headlamps? They make me think of a Casio calculator.
Ha bloody ha They are dazzling white and if out of adjustment you may end up in a hedge or worse.
LED surely?
C and E. Close enough😀
Some forty miles today. One of my favourite roads has major roadworks with a lay-by just before the traffic light. So, park in the lay-by and try and be first in line when the lights go against you. In this case you have 3 minutes or more for the train of traffic that just got through to disappear so you haven’t any bendy bits compromised.
I almost got a perfect result, except a Smart decided not to not go against yellow and I’m second car.
Fortunately he/she was quite swift and was dispatched on one of the few places you can see a couple of hundred yards down the road. There was a guy in a slightly modded Merc that couldn’t follow me. Much later as I’m in town he is in my mirrors again. Just as I’m noticing him he pulls of the road in a huge pail of white smoke. Just wonder if he tried too hard to get past that Smart? You do come across those that like to share a swift drive with you ( or blow you into the weeds)
Whatever, an expensive day for him sadly.
Just a there and back to Penzance, it’s got a lot of speed restrictions but is a gateway to some fine moorland roads in Penwith. Didn’t do that as had overloaded on blind bends yesterday and just fancied a cruise.
I’m an Apple fan that doesn’t like depreciation. New/old phone is a 12mini replacing a 1st gen SE MK2. Bit of a back step screen size wise and the spoken instructions were never going to be wonderful in a car with no lid but I do like Waze that is on top of stuff: speed traps and accidents for example that make citizen involvement more than just business speak.
BVAC Monthly breakfast car meet at Milestone Garden Centre Newtown St Boswells (Scottish Borders). Good selection of interesting cars including a new 3 wheeler Morgan, Jensen, Alpine and a nice MX5 Mk2.
Thanks for the pictures.
That blue TVR Grantura in the background looks nice - nearly bought one of those once.
Four hour round trip to the Torpoint peninsular which is Plymouth, but the Cornish side of the Tamar. Scored a BNIB set of Standard Meisters for £350. Wouldn’t have gone for coilovers normally but, a chance to try them at that price was worth the punt. Some great roads in this area so rather pleased I ignored the comfortable option of the Volvo…
This area is a goldmine for me. Four months ago scored a standard set of wheels with nearly new Kumbos for a princely £50.
Been out for a quick spin the last couple of evenings. Always top down and heater going slightly. Live by Epping forest so you can see all the autumn colours and smell the leaves. Car is running really well and the exhaust note is spot on.
A few nights ago. Run to Lytham for the afternoon via Lancashire lanes, then on to Blackpool to meet up with a group from MX5OC NW for fish and chips and run in convoy through the lights.
A restaurant run out last night for my wife’s birthday. It got quite getting chilly here, so we heard the car tell us about the temperature hitting 4 degrees outside - quite loudly!
A rose between two thorns?
Those lights are impressive…and the Blackpool one’s too.
