Was that a stand off between you and the Renault van? ![]()
Ahh no, that’s our best mates.
Last time I was up there it was like that. Couldn’t see a thing!
Hopefully heading there later in the week. Always a favourite stopping point.
Well, great loads of ND abuse today- just going to top up with ESSO’s finest ![]()
- At a pedestrian crossing, some guy is parked up in some older red car by a layby. Looks at me, window down, and calls me a ****. Charming
- Some high IQ meat head in a black AUDI SUV tailgates me for a mile or so. I indicate to turn right to go into the ESSO station, and as he passes, he literally hangs out of his car, saying ‘****’.
Welcome to the South Wales Valleys ![]()
Great spin though: Singing 5K revs on inclines, getting verbally abused (as described above, which I love, as peoples jealously shows you’ve got a nice set of wheels :-)), not much traffic about, nice weather etc.
Anyway, on the way back, couldn’t resit a nice pic:
Jealousy at its finest ![]()
Exactly!
It must be over twenty years ago when some dawdler I was overtaking in my Eunos shouted “act your age!”
It makes you even more determined to tough it out to the bitter end.
Around a decade+ ago two friends and I were called, ‘@#£% bloody young ^&*! tearaways’ by a very frustrated chap in a car, who had reached the last parking space just too late. We had just stepped off our sport 600’s and still had our full face helmets on. When we removed them to reveal three pensioners there was a moments hush, then all the bikers around us started laughing. The driver, who looked about half our age, went bright red, and certainly exceeded the speed limit as he burnt rubber leaving that Northumbrian town.
High revving run on way to MOT station this morning. All those revs no doubt helped with emissions test and everything else was spot on.
MOT pass with no advisories![]()
Same here, mine had only done 800 miles since last year though.
My friend averages 800 miles a year…I’m trying to do 1500 to 2000 per year. Time is a precious commodity…
1500 miles for us this year. Generally a fair weather MX-5 and we don’t get enough fair weather.
As per DaveBee in earlier post, lunch at The Nook near Alston and a quick walk up to the Roman fort remains. Then on to Allenheads and obligatory coffee and cake (and pic of old and new bikes at the cafe - Ducati and Velocette) before return via A68 to the Borders - about 230 miles total. Great weather and mostly quiet roads.
Could have gone to the local Post Office to drop off a parcel - but with the weather it made sense to go to a different one miles away
The weather has been great for Alston and surrounding area these last few days. Today looks like the last nice one for a while, possibly over the border via Kielder today if I can get my daughter out with me today ![]()
