Thank you for that! I’ve not heard of that before. I guess, as I was in America and claiming from insurance, they just wanted me repatriated to UK. We missed the return flight and when we got to New York for the final leg, it was overbooked? So, we ended up coming home another day later but 1st class? The only time I’ve ever flown at that level but was too poorly to enjoy it
Oh well, such is life.

That’s such bad luck…
BPPV is a relatively new discovery, as is the treatment.
When the missus first had an episode, not all doctors knew how to deal with it.
They probably do now though.
Try googling “Dizzyfix”, it’s quite interesting.
Drove over to my eldest daughters (only a few miles) not for pleasure as such but my services were required to sort out a path to her new decking which her partner is building. They’ve just bought a brand new house and rear garden needed a patio, deck, bar and aforementioned path!
Even their dog got involved at the end!
Some gravel needed for infill between paving and garage wall but not on site otherwise I would have done it for them.
Home now after digging it all out, building the steps, laying the slabs etc, on my own. Didn’t start until 10.00 am today and had finished by 14.00pm. Her new neighbours next door were quoted £2.5k to lay the same type of slabs for a patio? Double the amount of slabs but I’m thinking I should come out of retirement!

Neat job
I’m booked in with the Quack for a ‘Dizzyfix’ on the 26th. Fingers crossed it works, as it’s debilitating.
My doc prescribed Betahistine and pointed me at the head movements.
However it was head movements that brought it on in the first place, early Jan 2020, just before a ski trip. I was a regular swimmer, doing about four kilometres a couple of times a week, and it came on suddenly. Tuesday no problem, Thursday first turn and my balance was totally shot for a couple of seconds. Fortunately the pool is 33 1/3 metres so slightly fewer turns than 25m, but still a nightmare.
If I keep my head still, as when skiing properly, then no problem, but looking up and down needed the pills. Now still on the pills and almost better until I run out of them.
Oh well…
Finally got to use my 2019 Birthday present voucher for a steam train ride on the West Somerset Railway, wonderful time and experience, oh went in her MX-5 to give it a run out. Got a Triumph Motorcycle factory visit voucher for my 2020 Birthday so I’ll take my MX-5 on that one.
Fingers crossed your doc is experienced and competent with the Epley manoeuvre.
A good indicator is if they first test to see which ear is causing the problem.
The first doc who attempted it on my missus failed to do that and the procedure was not a success.
The second doc did a much better job and fixed it.
It’s not simple to do. The patient’s head has to be smoothly moved through a precise series of movements in order to get the debris to flow through the canals and out of the area where it is causing problems.
Dizzyfix is an American product and takes two forms.
The first is a consumer product and is a transparent 3d model of an inner ear, complete with fluid and debris.
The idea is you clip it to the peak of a baseball cap and move your head around in such a way as to move the debris in the fluid away from the harmful area to an area that is less harmful.
As you are doing that the debris in your own inner ear is being moved at the same time and your dizziness is fixed.
The second product is an app for smartphones and is aimed at the medical professional.
The doc places the phone against the patient’s forehead and follows the instructions which are both visual and audio
Popped in there today on a run out for some nibbles and a drink good place , would be great when we can have larger gatherings
Hiya! That’s great
it would definitely suit a meet. Did you see the top car park?
Barrie
I did not, but wondered where that road went will check on next visit
could be tomorrow lol
Drove up to Mamtor walked the hill then home roof down all the way
Drove the lovely, bendy B645, turned right, parked, put up hood, then walked in sunshine round Stanwick Lakes. Then home again, top down. Bliss!
Currently on my lunch break, having a picnic in a field above Kirkby-in-Furness.
That pheasant (biggest in ze world) and his partner are making a racket whenever another bird appears. Must have a nest nearby.
Out for Cov-id Jab No2.
