At my local dealer today, out of 4 people who had wanted an 30ae only one has stuck with their order, deliveries being quoted for August (possibly depending on when you order) have put them off and they have gone for other models of MX-5.
My betting is that there will be a “Summer” release… June/July in japan… then the USA in July/August and ours will start to come in late August just in time for the new “69” registrations in September! The same as with the original ND in 2015!
I know it’s a very special ‘special’ but releasing it at the end of summer could be a big mistake. Buying one pre-registered with a nice discount would make a nice Christmas present though.
I wonder! With all the uncertainty and UK sales stagnating could Mazda reduce the UK allocations by say 50%, and increase the US allocation, bearing in mind that it sold out in 24 hours and as the cars haven’t been built yet the switch from RH to LH drive won’t be a problem. I wonder!
Hopefully Mazda will be more forthcoming about the UK delivery dates at the official “unveiling” of the 30AE at the Spring Rally. I wouldn’t bank on it though!
Interestingly at my local dealer on Friday you can still order a 30AE but at present you won’t find a GT Sport Nav available unless it is a RF Auto. Looking like quite few may have changed their minds
No more news on deliveries yet? Website has changed. There’s now a “Pre-order” button and new brochure. Neither the website or brochure seem to mention prices anymore, as far as I could see anyway.
Local dealer has quite a few cars in stock at the moment, used, including a 67 plate Soul Red RF. Must admit the RF has grown on me and without a garage might be the more sensible option. Had a good look around a few of each.
As originally early June was being quoted and we are now over half way through April I would guess they probably should be loading them on a boat by now. As we now seem to have a couple of months delay that would suggest they haven’t started building them yet.
Looks highly likely there is some production problem. Can’t be a range wise problem as plenty of others seem to be available. The only major parts that aren’t standard on some models in some markets would appear to be seats and wheels. Odds on there is a delay or problem with one of those.
My local dealer has a few pre-reg cars in stock with a decent discount off list. Looked around a rather nice soul red RF with 10 miles on it until I realised it was a 1.5 (1.5 sport nav+ - £21500).
Doubt the AE will be available pre-registered, damn
Been chasing my dealer for a delivery date as I was becoming concerned over rumours that this may not happen until September…after the summer!
Today I received a call from them to say that my car has been built and has been assigned a chassis number. I was also told that the car had been delivered into Europe and was currently in Zeebrugue.
I ordered the car the day it was released in the UK and was told delivery would be June 4th.
Now this is the bit I do not get.
They have now given me a delivery date of July 4th.
Why does it take 10 weeks to effect delivery from Belgium to the UK?
