Opened the drivers door through the passenger side 4 out of 5 times today. The only time it worked properly was first thing this morning. Central locking seems to keep clicking on passenger door when unlocked, drivers door won’t fully unlock. Once I flick the “nub” and open the drivers door, the clicking from the passenger side stops. No previous symptoms so will need to do some investigating.
Also softened off the ZetaSports from 15F/20R to 20F/25R to see if I could notice a difference - certainly did! Going to firm them up tomorrow and go for a drive, see what the commute feels like with them that way.
Another day under the rear arches, cleaning and redoing the calipers. I had them done when I first got the car and they covered everything and I mean everything rubbers pins etc etc, so, if you want it right do it yourself, back to bare metal, primed and new colour red got to be worth 10bhp a caliper
JASS Performance St.Stl Battery Cover…
The Glamour, then the the reality!
Real shame that the new support bracket is too short.
20mm shortfall, not good…
All packed and strapped, can only mean one thing… first shakedown run of the year tomorrow at Blyton Park after my winter tinkerings and a tiny Sprint in the afternoon
I bought a 2007 NC with partial history back in September 2024 (second mid-life crisis) and since then been reading what many people have done to their MX-5. I kept wanting to share what I have done and then there was more to do and I didn’t get around until now.
I have looked at all the receipts and then made a list of what I had done since Sept last year. It was a long list and my wife doesn’t know how much money I have spent so far. Thank goodness!!
The joy of spending hours playing with the car, doing stuff to it and finding out what a lovely car to work on. As a mechanical engineer, I can truly appreciate the thought Mazda engineers put into the car to make it tinker friendly.

I can honestly say that I am quite good at working on the car now.
I want to say thank you to the many people on this forum who have unselfishly shared so much information, advice and expertise.
I would be delighted to share my knowledge if anyone is interested to do some of the things that I have done.
"My wife doesn’t know how much money I’ve spent so far. Thank goodness!!’
I totally applaud what you have done to your 2007 NC so far
And your appreciation of the MX-5 ‘to work on’ as a mechanical engineer
And your gratitude to ‘the many people on the forum who have unselfishly shared so much info, advice and expertise’
As a female owner of an 2005 NB [purchased 2007] who has hopefully been one of the ‘many people on the forum who have unselfishly shared so much info, advice, expertise’ [albeit as best I can being part disabled and not a mechanical engineer]
I just find it so demoralising to read that you seem to have excluded your wife in your acheivements by not being honest with her over your expediture on the NC
I was just being a little disingenuous with my comment about the wife not knowing how much I have spent on the car. We have a joint account and I also have a “secret account” that I use for spending on the car.
